2007 The Barclays Scottish Open

Biography

Born in Aberdeen in 1983. After playing many different sports at a young age I began to concentrate on golf at the age of 14. After winning several district events during the forthcoming years I began to represent my country at International level finishing 6th in the World Boys in 1999. After a brief spell in America winning one tournament and picking up All-American honours I returned to Scotland and enrolled at the University of Stirling. I went on to win the Scottish Universities Championship, East of Scotland and most importantly the Scottish National Championship in the Lowest recorded total ( 15 under par). After making my full Scotland cap at the end of 2004 I moved on to produce 5 international top tens and win the Irish Strokeplay Championship earning my selection for the 2005 Walker Cup. My next big win came at the 2006 United States Amateur giving me exemptions for the Masters, US Open and the Open Championship where I played with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott and Padriag Harrington. After rounding off 2006 representing Scotland and Great Britain and Ireland on winning teams and finishing 9th in the World Amateur Championships I finished as the worlds ranked no 1 amateur.

After competing in 3 Major Championship I gained the experience I felt the time was right for the professional and turned professional on the 24 July 2007. During 2007 I recorded 4 top ten finishes in 9 Challenge Tour events which allowed me to gain a full card for the 2008 season.

In 2009 I played 31 events and finished 14th in the BMW Italian Open, 10th in the Wales Open and was delighted to secure 4th place at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews, ultimately finishing in 97th place in the Race to Dubai rankings.

My 2010 season got off to a great start with my first European Tour win at the South African Open – this secured my card until the end of 2011 and providing me with a great base to build from as the 2010 season unfolds.
